For standard domestic or short-haul routes, PE film holds air reliably for 6–8 weeks under normal ambient conditions. For ocean freight, long-haul air cargo, or any shipment where transit time could exceed two months, we recommend PE+PA co-extruded film, which maintains inflation for 4–6 months. The PA barrier layer significantly reduces gas permeability. If you’re sourcing for a cross-border operation, the PE+PA variant is the correct specification.
Q: We wrap fragile items like glassware and ceramics. Can this film replace foam inserts?
For many applications, yes — particularly with PE+PA film, which is flexible enough to wrap directly around irregular shapes while providing meaningful impact absorption. That said, film cushioning and rigid foam serve different functions: film excels at void fill, wrapping, and distributed cushion; molded foam inserts are better for fixed-position critical protection of very high-value items. A common approach is using both — film as the outer wrap and void fill, foam as a fixed insert for the most vulnerable contact points.
